Hello all, may I personally wish you all a very Merry Christmas should you celebrate it; if not Happy The Husbands Of River Song Day!
As the festive period is a time of reflection and giving thanks to those who’ve helped you grow in the previous year, I thought that this would be the perfect time to give thanks to the people who have helped me grow GallifreyArchive.
Now, if you haven’t been here since the very beginning all the way back at the very end of June of this year, you might not realise that this site is a mere six and a half months old; but even though we’re still very much in our infancy; there’s a plethora of people I would like to thank for being a part of this extremely fun journey with me.
First of all, I’d like to thank the ginger one. The child. The best Doctor Who reviewer I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Ben Lett. You were the first person from the Whovian YouTube community that really believed in the site and gave me permission to share your work on GallifreyArchive; you were the only person I really knew before I headed down to the amazing Doctor Who Festival in November. You have become a great friend, someone whom I upmost admire and someone who I really hope will continue to help and support GallifreyArchive for years to come. (Also, thanks for showing me that Colin Baker’s Doctor is severely under appreciated!)
Next on the list are two hilarious gentlemen, two visionaries, two Whovians who aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in. James Wilson and Matthew Rowney (also known as the brilliant Who Addicts Reviews on YouTube and throughout Social Media), thank you for making me laugh in times of despair *Cough cough, Sleep No More, cough cough*, thank you for letting me share your content on the site and thank you for hanging out with me at the Doctor Who Festival. I hope that we meet again soon and that we are able to collaborate more during 2016!
I have to be honest, but I had no idea that Tom Dix existed until we met at the Festival; he was with Ben, James, Matthew and the rest of the gang and we just got on. Since then we’ve become great friends and I’m going to start sharing more of his content on the site as I feel that he would be a very valuable addition to GallifreyArchive; his YouTube channel, Epic Who just shows you how passionate he is about Doctor Who; how much he cares about the show, and above all, makes me incredibly jealous that he’s at university in Cardiff so he can just pop down to the Doctor Who Experience like I pop down to Tesco. Everyone can expect a lot more Tom on this site next year.
Next up, I want to thank the wonderful people at Big Finish for all of their help and support that they’ve given in regards to producing content on their amazing audio adventures. Since I’ve started, the Big Finish guys have been kind enough to interact with me on Social Media, whether it be on my Facebook or Twitter by retweeting my posts so that I can share my audience with theirs, or answering any questions that I may have about a certain release whilst I’m writing a review or an article; they’ve been incredibly kind and easily approachable and it has really given me the encouragement to continue with the site and continue creating Big Finish reviews.
There are two people from Big Finish that I’d especially like to thank; the first being the wonderful Nick Briggs who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting at the Doctor Who Festival; who engages with me on Twitter and is always thanking me for my work. If you’re reading this Nick, thank you for everything you’ve done for this site, whether it be intentional or not; when I see that you’ve talked about and promoted content on the site, it makes me very emotional.
The other especially amazing person from Big Finish is Joe Smith who handles a hell of a lot of my queries for me, and has been kind enough to provide me with downloads of the latest Big Finish adventures to review. When we first started, he seemed to have a lot of belief in me and the site, and saw a potential for us to work together. If it wasn’t for Joe I wouldn’t be able to provide you guys with half as many Big Finish reviews, so thank you from the bottom of my heart Joe.
Last, and certainly not least, I would like to thank you guys; I started GallifreyArchive with no idea how quickly I would gain a loyal audience, but low and behold, here you all are. Every month we’re getting new visitors to the site from all around the world, and without your support, GallifreyArchive wouldn’t be anywhere near as successful or as fun to write content for. If it wasn’t for you guys, there is no way I would have met the people above and got them to allow me to share their content on the site. So thank you. Let’s make 2016 the best year ever!
Merry Christmas one and all, from me, Daniel Whitaker, the man behind GallifreyArchive!
